Lyon College

About Lyon College

Lyon College is one of the country’s premier liberal arts colleges. Receiving recognition from the U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review, and Washington Monthly, Lyon College has been placed in the top tier of best liberal arts colleges, and named one of the nation’s most socially beneficial liberal arts colleges.

Opening its doors for the first time in 1872, the then-named Arkansas College was founded by the state’s Presbyterians. In the present day, Lyon College is the only liberal arts college to win 14 awards from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council of Advancement and Support of Education.
